Hungarian police have arrested an alleged member of the notorious Naples-area mafia the Camorra as he tried to enter Romania, police said on Saturday.
“The 59-year-old Italian man wanted to cross the Hungarian border by car at Nagylak but my colleagues found that Italy had issued a European arrest warrant for him,” spokesperson Monika Benyi told AFP.
“He did not resist when police arrested him” on Thursday, Benyi said, adding that the man was wanted for “various violent crimes.”
The man, named by Hungarian state radio MR1 as Giancarlo De Luca, is to be extradited to Italy within 10 days, she said.
