A reputed underboss in the Philadelphia mob was accused of spitting on a police officer during a confrontation at the Jersey shore.
Marty Angelina was charged with aggravated assault. It’s up to the Atlantic County prosecutor to decide whether to pursue a grand jury indictment.
Police said they were called to a condo in Margate just before 6 a.m. on Sept. 1 because of complaints about noise. Angelina was arrested on a disorderly persons charge and taken to the police station. Police say while there, Angelina spit on Officer Christopher Taroncher’s face.
Angelina was released after posting $2,500 bond.
A Philadelphia police chart said the 47-year-old is second in command of the area’s shrinking mob.
