A MULTI-million dollar family drug empire allegedly run by members of the Italian mafia has been busted this morning following police raids in Sydney and Mildura

At 6 am, 200 officers swooped on properties across south-west Sydney and Mildura in Victoria.
Firearms and Organised Crime Squad Commander Detective Superintendent Arthur Katsogiannis said police would be alleging that the people involved were “very dangerous.
He said the raids were the culmination of an eight-month investigation by officers with Strike Force Baranbali, a joint operation involving New South Wales Police, Victorian Police and the NSW Crime Commission.
Police allege they have dismantled a drug factory manufacturing amphetamines and have seized a number of firearms including pistols and rifles.
A 69-year-old man arrested at his home at West Hoxton is alleged to be the godfather of the operation.
Supt Katsogiannis described it as a highly organised entity operating under a hierarchical family structure.

Police executed 19 search warrants, 14 in NSW and 5 in Mildura.
Nine men have been arrested aged between 29 and 69 at their homes in West Hoxton, Eschol Park, Bringelly, Harrington Park, Greystanes, Macquarie Links and Macquarie Fields. They include sons, sons-in-law and cousins.
Police officers are continuing to search other properties and further arrests are expected.
