In Mexico, armed fighters of a drug cartel shot at and killed 20 people in the northeast of the country on Friday.

The bodies of 18 men and 2 women have been found riddled with bullets, in different parts of the city of Ciudad Madero in the state of Tamaulipas. At the moment police have no detailed information regarding the criminals.

On Thursday night a group of unknown people shot to kill 19 people during an attack on a rehabilitation centre for drug addicts in the state of Chihuahua.

Mexico’s northern areas are traditionally seen as most criminogenic, with hundreds of gangsters from contending drug cartels operating there, to ensure drug supplies to the United States.
