Gambino rat Alite still talking

More than a dozen corrupt cops – allegedly including celebrity detective Bo Dietl and a former NYPD detective-driver for Manhattan DA Robert Morgenthau — fed information to the mob and took part in crimes including drug dealing, armed robbery and murder, according to a blockbuster FBI report obtained by The Post.

The stunning allegations come from Gambino crime family rat John Alite, who’s expected to be the prosecution’s star witness at the upcoming racketeering and murder trial of mob scion John “Junior” Gotti.

Alite, a former Gambino associate, who allegedly helped Gotti run a drug ring in Queens, made a star appearance as a witness earlier this year in Brooklyn federal court against Gambino family hit man Charles Carneglia.

Carneglia, who like Gotti Jr. claimed to have left the mob life, was convicted in that case and sentenced today to life in prison for four mob hits.

The upcoming trial is Gotti’s fourth in four years. Gotti’s previous three trials ended in mistrials.

This go around the feds are betting that Alite’s testimony will end their losing streak.

In a series of sit-downs between June 2007 and last August, Alite told the feds he personally witnessed Dietl, a fixture on cable television, take cash payoffs from Richie Gotti, brother of the late “Dapper Don” John Gotti.

Alite “had several conversations with Richie Gotti regarding Dietl, during the course of which Gotti told [Alite] Dietl was ‘with them’ meaning the Gambino family and was available to do what the Family asked of him,” according to the report.

Dietl vehemently denied the allegations.

“For this punk to say I took a penny from Richard Gotti, he’s a f—- liar,” Dietl told The Post by phone from Venice, Italy. “I want to be put on the stand. I want to tell the guy to his face he’s a f— liar. My reputation is on the line.”

Dietl, who grow up with Gotti Sr. in Queens, said he only met Richard three times in his life and two of those times were at the wake and funeral for the late Dapper Don.

Alite also claims that men who did work for Dietl’s private investigation firm were mobbed up, including retired NYPD detective Phil Baroni.

Dietl said he doesn’t remember ever employing a man named Baroni.

But Alite fingered Baroni and a Suffolk County cop in the 1988 drug-related slaying of George Grosso in Queens, one of two murders added to Gotti’s indictment last month.

Alite said Baroni was “involved in bookmaking, armed robberies, narcotics trafficking, jury tampering, obstruction of justice and murder.”

Last year The Post contacted Baroni about his longstanding allegations of mob ties.

“I got nothin’ to say to you,” Baroni said when a reporter asked him about his alleged relationship with the Gambinos.

Alite also said Baroni fed information to the Gambinos from a detective identified as “Jimmy Ianello,” who at one time was district attorney Morgenthau’s driver, and from celebrated former NYPD crime-fighter Joe Coffey.

The charge against Coffey — author of “The Coffey Files: One Cop’s War Against the Mob” — repeated earlier claims by ex-FBI mob-buster Lindley DeVecchio that he was allegedly crooked.

DeVecchio himself beat charges in 2007 that he plotted four gangland slayings for Colombo family capo Gregory Scarpa.

Gotti Jr. has pleaded not guilty to the racketeering and drug-related slayings. If convicted, he could face life in prison.

Gotti previously served six years behind bars in 1999 on mob-related charges, but in September 2005 a jury deadlocked on racketeering, kidnapping and extortion charges. His other two cases also ended in mistrial.
